President's Message

WOW! My term as president of the Georgia Academy of Audiology is quickly coming to an end. It has been a pleasure to serve this association and an honor to work with such diligent audiologists. Over the last eleven months, the GAA Board of Directors and committee chairs have been busy at work; we have really achieved a great deal. Our main accomplishment was creating our strategic plan.  With the inspiration and guidance from the American Academy of Audiology, we put together a road map that will take us into the next many years.  We set goals, objectives and action plans defining how and what we must accomplish. All that we set out to undertake will be tied to this new strategic plan. So now it’s time to start the implementation process.  With the election, the new Board of Directors is being decided as this message is being written.  With the new leadership, we will continue to press forward with the charges that have been laid. We will strive to keep our membership intact while enticing others to join. We will continue to advocate for the profession and work on projects that will keep us visible in the eyes of the consumer.  We will continue to provide education to our members through our convention by bringing the best of speakers and information to you. We will continue to keep you abreast of current issues through our newsletter as well as through our new and contemporary website.  We will continue to ask for your support and for your suggestions. Thanks again for another great year.  Stay involved and get others excited about supporting our one and only association, of, by and for audiologists in the state of Georgia.

MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT: The Georgia Academy of Audiology is a professional organization of audiologists and friends of the audiology community that promotes quality hearing and balance care by advancing the profession of audiology through leadership, advocacy, education, public awareness, and support of research.*

The Georgia Academy of Audiology’s vision is to be essential in the professional lives of audiologists by:

•        Advancing the science and practice of audiology, and

•        Achieving public recognition of audiologists as experts in hearing and balance.

The Georgia Academy of Audiology shall be recognized as the professional organization for audiologists in the State of Georgia.
